Chelsea + Matt {Houston Couple Photographer}

Chelsea and I met in graduate school. I was a Graduate Assistant for the Communication Sciences and Disorders program at U of H my second year of graduate school, which meant that I worked alongside the first-year graduate students frequently, and Chelsea was one of those awesome girls that completely rocked the program - an all-star student! She has a sweet, southern demeanor and a smile that warms your heart. She was so awesome with her patients at the U of H clinic, and was always eager to learn more and become the best clinician she could be. I mentored many girls that year as a GA, and Chelsea was definitely one that stood out :)

Well, after I graduated, got a job, and then (practically by accident) started this photography business, Chelsea was following my work on Facebook and, unbeknownst to me, spreading the word about my work to her friends at Sojourn church. I received an email from one of her sweet friends, Corrie, about an engagement session. Which then turned into a wedding. And more engagements. And a newborn. And another wedding. And another wedding. My goal for 2012 was to second shoot a wedding, but with the help of Chelsea (and certainly several others) we photographed 7 weddings this year!! Holy cow. Who woulda thought??

What amazed me was that I had never even taken pictures for Chelsea before. Ever. And here she was telling all of her friends about my work! And so, as a thank you for helping us grow our business in ways we never could have imagined after only being in business for a year, I offered to do a photo shoot for Chelsea and her husband. And what a pleasure it was! Chelsea and Matt will celebrate 2 years of marriage in January, so this photo shoot came at just the right time :) Happy Anniversary, Chelsea and Matt! May these photographs serve as a reminder of your growing love for each other :)

Amber | Houston Bridal Photographer

I am so thrilled to post these bridals of the beautiful Amber! Scott and I had the immense pleasure of photographing she and Drew's wedding last weekend, so I am safe to post these photos ;)

Amber wanted to do her bridals in The Heights area of Houston. I LOVE The Heights. I don't think I have come across a soul who doesn't love The Heights! It's charming, eclectic, whimsical, and fun! And such a great place to do a unique bridal session. The pairing of urban-eclectic meeting elegant-chic  was amazing to capture! Thanks, Amber, for OWNING this shoot! You are stunning!! And I hope you are embracing every moment of roaming the green hills of Ireland - so jealous! :)

A big thanks to the folks at Onion Creek Cafe, Vinal Edge Records, and Boomtown Coffee for allowing us to invade your space for this bridal shoot!

Lane | 1 Year Old | Houston Children Photographer

This particular post marks a pretty significant milestone for The Freckled Key Photography. The very first paid photo shoot that I did as The Freckled Key Photography was when Lane was still inside his momma's tummy. The second photo shoot was one week after Lane was born - his newborn photos. Friends, Lane is now 1 year old! Which means that The Freckled Key Photography is officially 1 year old - wow! My photography and business skills have developed SO much over this past year, and I cannot wait to see what 2013 holds!

Kati, girl, I cannot thank you enough for insisting that you pay me for your maternity photos. Your maternity shoot is what started this business. Your referrals are what grew this business into what it is now :) Thank you, also, for continuing to allow me to photograph Lane's milestones. Watching him grow into a very handsome, red-haired, almost-toddler has been such a beautiful and fun experience :) You and Mike have raised one active and sweet little boy!

Here's to many, many more years of The Freckled Key Photography, and many, many more years of doing what I love. And Happy Birthday, sweet Lane :)

Red hair and big smiles,
